Who's on the couch tonight?
Decide what to watch in 30 seconds. Together.
Free. No ads. No paywalls. Your couch isn't anyone's data.
Why we built it
Blended family. Five kids. Two of them are in the basement halfway through one show. Three more are in three different rooms watching three different things. And the parents still want to put on something together at the end of the night.
"What are you watching?" became a daily logistics meeting. Who started what with whom. Who fell asleep on episode 4. Who's free tonight. What everyone could actually agree on if they tried.
Every household runs a smaller version of this. Couples who can't remember if they finished the show. Friends across time zones trying to start a series in sync. Anyone who's said "wait, don't spoil it."
Couch is the answer to "what are we watching tonight?" — and the bigger question underneath: who, with who, and where did we leave off.
Turn the argument into a ritual
Five people, three streaming services, two opinions on tone, one person already half-asleep. "What do you want to watch?" isn't a preference question — it's a coordination puzzle. Couch gives it two answers: vote together when nobody's decided, or drop a pick when one person already has one. Either way, tonight gets decided in 30 seconds, not 30 minutes.
Why not the other things?
Couch isn't the first app for movie night. Here's the difference.
Why not JustWatch or Reelgood?
They tell you where to stream. We help everyone agree on what.
Why not Letterboxd or Trakt?
They're solo cinephile journals. Couch is built for the people watching with you tonight.
Why not Teleparty, Scener, or Plex?
They sync your screen with friends. Couch handles deciding, watching, and remembering — without making everyone install a Chrome extension.
Why not Apple SharePlay, FaceTime, or Microsoft Teams Together?
They're built into one ecosystem (Apple's, Microsoft's). Couch works across iPhone, Android, and the browser. No one's locked out because they're on the wrong device.
Two ways to couch
THE SPIN
Everyone's home. Nobody's picked.
- Join the couch. Share a code. Everyone shows up.
- Everyone votes. Yes / maybe / no on the night's lineup. Takes 90 seconds.
- Spin decides. One spin, fair pick. Hate it? Veto. The wheel goes again.
THE NOMINATION
One person has a pick. Others decide in.
- Drop your pick. "I'm starting Blade Runner at 9pm."
- Everyone RSVPs. In / maybe / can't. See who's joining in real time.
- Couch calls it. Majority turns it into a watchparty. Everyone gets a heads-up when it's starting.
Both paths land the same place: everyone on the couch at the same time, watching the same thing.
What's actually in it
Wait Up — watch together when you can't be in the same room
Reactions land at the same moment in the show, even if one of you started 90 minutes late. Or yesterday.
Couch Groups — bring another family in
Multi-family watchparties without a group chat. Cousins three states away can join your Sunday-night Severance ritual.
Pick up where you left off
We track every "watching group" — Mom and the eldest watch Severance, both parents watch Lupin. The home screen tells you which couch left off where.
Pick'em on the big games
Pick winners across NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer leagues, and F1. Live scores. Reaction-amplified scoring plays. Friend leaderboard.
Who it's for
Family
Mixed ages, kid-safe filtering, everyone on the couch tonight.
Crew
Friends who pile onto the couch. Film clubs, group chats, scheduled nights.
Duo
Just the two of you. Date nights, shared queue, one yes is enough.

FAQ
Do I need to log in?
Yes. Apple, Google, email-link, or phone — pick one.
Does Grandma need an account?
No. Guest RSVP works without one — anyone with the invite link can RSVP and join.
Which streaming services do you support?
All major ones. We pull metadata from TMDB and never link to pirate sources. You stream on whichever service you already pay for.
Does it cost?
Free. No ads, no paywalls, no subscription tiers.
What devices does it work on?
Web today. iOS app and Android home-screen install — pull up a seat from any device.
What happens to my data?
Stays in your family's Firestore doc. We don't sell it, share it, or mine it. Read the privacy policy.
How is this different from Teleparty?
Teleparty needs a Chrome extension and a paid streaming subscription on the same service for everyone on the call. Couch decides, syncs, and remembers — no extension, no shared subscription required.
